NEW MOON BLESSINGS

I am different from ordinary people.
I drink from the Great Mother’s breasts.
― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

Amavasya or the dark moon arrives on June 20th in the sign of nurturing and devoted Cancer in the constellation of ‘Pushya.’ This star represents nourishment that is received from the mother, its symbol is of the udder of a cow and means ‘to nourish.’ Lao Tzu’s brilliant philosophy above captures the energy of this time for us sensitive souls wonderfully! The mother’s milky ocean is the nectar that soothes and heals the mental and emotional body landscape.

Pushya is ruled by Brihaspati, the guru or priest of the Gods, also known as expansive and sattvic Jupiter.

Values reflected in this moon energy is of selfless love and devotion — like that offered to a child.

Which part of you requires nurturing, soothing more nourishment and gentleness? This is a great time to show compassion to your inner waters, your grief — the heart space. It’s time to purify murky feelings and take care of your inner child. My article on healing the Heart Chakra may provide more illumination.

Get in stronger relationship with your boundaries too as Saturn part rules this star space where the moon is placed at the time of its renewal. (Saturn who represents a sense of restriction and limits is giving his dristi ‘gaze’ to moon.) Call in emotional balance, self-protection and more stability and structure amidst big new intentions, desires, goals and changes!

To help you set your new moon intentions I’ve pulled 5 wisdom quotes below to support your ritual! In yoga, creating our intention and resolve which aligns with our higher path is called, ‘Sankalpa.’ Be sure to follow my Tuesday newsletter, I’ll be supplementing this new moon reading with further guidance using my yoga and goddess energy oracle cards. Here are 5 quotes and my notes on them to help you set your new moon intentions :

1) ‘Why escape your intended purpose by copying and trying to be someone else? You will discover who you were meant to be only after you have shown confidence being yourself.’ ― Suzy Kassem

Be honest with yourself first about your current thoughts and feelings. Find your intention by removing all noise that comes from outside of you. Turn inwards.

2) ‘You are what your deepest desire is. As is your desire, so is your intention. As is your intention, so is your will. As is your will, so is your deed. As is your deed, so is your destiny.’ ― Upanishads

Do not look to others for validation and try to imitate someone else’s path. What do you deeply and truly desire to bring about?

3) ‘Faith is composed of the heart’s intention.’ ― Rig Veda

Root into your heart centre. Feel your intention here. Is this what you truly want? Get to the truth, find the seed and hold it in your heart.

4) ‘Sankalpa gets manifested with devotion. When your devotion is strongly rooted, Nature listens to you!’ ― Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Create a phrase or a sentence that summarises your intention for this new moon.

Light a candle or a purifying herb and say this phrase out loud three times to seal your resolve.

Each day create a way to nourish this ‘seed.’

5) ‘By letting go it all gets done.’ ― Lao-Tzu

Release. Release. Release.
