Heal Your Heart this October ~ Mercury Retrograde & New Moon Guidance
The poison is the nectar.
Tell me, has something or someone from the past revisited you — in thoughts or dreams or in reality? Has there been a haunting as it were…
Mercury is now retrograde! I’ve already had an internet outage, wrong booking of tickets, mix up of event dates, password issues and other electronic mishaps! How about you?
In Vedic astrology Mercury is known as ‘Budha’ the part of our essence that ‘knows’ — the intellect, the higher mind, he gives the ability of discrimination. Budha is so revered that he is known as ‘Grahapati’ — lord of the planets. He presides over matters of home and career, giving good education and fortune — if he is favourably placed in one’s chart.
Fortunately for me, Mercury is a benefic (you’d have to study your own jyotish chart to understand which area of your personal life is being affected and what is asking for your attention in this retrograde cycle).
Anything related to communications, commerce and technology is undergoing a slowing down or a melt down — however you wish to see it (think of the petrol crisis in the UK right now.)
Mercury’s presiding deiti is Vishnu, which means that any event that occurs or whatever is being revisited is ultimately of benefit to dharma, meaning it’s in our best interest and for the greater good to see any miscommunication or mishap of circumstances as an opportunity to do it ‘right’ — this time.
Venus in Scorpio throughout October signals struggles in a passionate relationship, the intensity this creates is a chance to go in deep and turn a poison into a nectar. Find a new way to work with your anger and frustration (Mars will be combust.)
Look closer to what challenges are surfacing for you right now. This is where we need to place our attention and solve a problem.
Be gentle and tender with your heart. As the oracle drawn for the first half of October shows (see below) there is a focus now on healing wounds rooted here.
Self-reflection through journaling is a strong remedy for the retrograde period which ends 18th October.
NEW MOON INTENTION
Moon will be New in the sign of Virgo on 6th October, where Mercury is exhalted and will be placed from the first of the month.
This moon is in the nakshatra or lunar mansion of ‘Hasta’ symbolised by the hands, whose shakti or power is to create; it is the power of manifestation.
This moment in time also closes the fortnight of the ancestors, Pitr Paksha. Focus on healing these familial relationships. Place a food offering for your departed ones at your alter. (See my latest article.)
Create space within the mind.
Gently free the heart from tension.
Breathe the body.
JOURNAL THIS:
⫸ If I could create anything right now, what would it be?
⫸ Which relationship(s) (in the physical or world or the spiritual world) needs transformation and healing?
⫸ How can I slow down and create more peace within myself and towards others?
⫸ If I could speak to an ancestor and ask for guidance and support, what what I say?
⫸ What plan of action will move me towards my dreams, move me closer to being established in my true Self? (This is not a time to begin something new because of Pitr Paksha, but a time to reflect on the details.)
Contemplate on weaving a dream that your ancestors would be proud of, what creation of yours would bring them peace of mind — and by extension support your healing too?
Feel free to share your thoughts in our Facebook community — I’d love to hear how this guidance has supported you and what answers arrived! (More guidance for October below.)

ANAHATA
The Heart Chakra
‘Vulnerable strength is my warrior’s way’.
When you see the colour green, what calls out to you? What medicine does this hue provide? Think nature, nourishing foods, a sense of healing and vitality… green reflects the chakra of the heart. Self-love emanates from this centre. It is a journey of compassionate listening to our needs, of hearing our heart’s intelligence and of feeling empowered in our emotional equanimity.
A healing from heartbreak is taking place. Autumn is a season of grief work, transforming of shadows and of feeding our ancestors so that we may all heal our karmas. Notice what intensifies this month in mind, spirit, heart and body.
Create an alter to honour the grief process, visit often, and release emotions. Speak words of gratitude. Rituals heal the heart and spirit. Awaken your inner devotion and self-loyalty and tend to the sacredness all around you.
Lead your courageous heart-centred life.
Commune with your anahata chakra in the month of October.

“Coming into the clarity session with Payal I had no idea of what to expect. Having been unsettled for quite some time, it was also easy to be sceptical of what could change after a 45 minute session. That view was turned upside down after a sensationally revealing experience that connected me with my body, and brought me face to face with the biggest blockers in my life. I can honestly say that Payal has a gift that everyone could benefit from!” ~ Jacqui.
Let’s see if we’re a good fit!
I’ll send you a quick questionnaire before we meet.
