Saturn + the Eclipses: Rebuilding a Sense of Home

Do you feel displaced? Where do you belong?

The Lord of Karma and karaka (indicator) of yoga and ayurveda, Shani, or ‘Saturn’ has just gone retrograde! What does this mean for you?

Have you been feeling displaced of late? Is there a longing to restructure your life, dismantle something old and outdated, set an important boundary and align with a truer sense of home and whole bodied living?

A theme I’ve been encountering with sensitive womxn like myself, is the need for a new home — a sense of belonging — a tiredness of living in a state of limbo, a fear of returning to old patterns and a lifestyle that no longer works — rather a stronger knowing that the life once lived needs to undergo a massive change!

Shani will show you — through your body — where you’re resisting this change. And the noise, or the hurt, will get louder the longer you avoid this need and don’t take the next right action. Remember that a meaning of karma yoga is indeed taking the right action, for the good of all. Leave it to Shani to deliver the consequences, but your job is to do what is right, to enact your dharma.

You can choose the negative consequences of not listening deeply to yourself, and what you truly desire, or you can choose to slow down, turn inward and listen to your inner truth to allow your path to unfold in the right direction.

The retrograde will be taking place in makar rashi, the sign of Capricorn, under the nakshatra or star space that is governed by Shravana (ruled by the moon), the symbol of which is an ear; listening to your soul’s wisdom and receiving this light through your sensitivity and openness, is the guidance here.

With a full moon lunar eclipse mid week (26th) and Mercury turning retrograde (29th) there is a lot happening internally with the mind and the emotional body. Past shadows are being bought to the light calling you to confront old karma, some loss and grief, and perhaps even some anger.

AHIMSA

Yama:

Non Violence

For the purpose of liberation, Sāṃkhya philosophy upon which yoga is built, further adds an eightfold path, known as ‘ashtanga.’ In this system, the yamas are the moral codes which the seeker must embody before she can even begin the practice of meditation. Ahimsa is the fundamental principal in Sanatana Dharma, of non-harming. In this thought, all life is sacred and all beings deserve to be treated in a responsible and non-violent way. One cannot honour the sentience in this world, if one is complicit in self-harming behaviours, which can come in many forms, such as being unkind, bullying or criticizing the self through the internal dialogue. At the approaching full moon and lunar eclipse, emotions may be big, chaotic and heavy, look out for aggression. Be kind to yourself. Befriend your emotions. This card indicates a willingness to change your internal monologue and shift to a new paradigm. Watch for the darker moments which teach you where you still need to grow. How will you create more compassion, joy and peace within? Continue to practice ahimsa.
